It’s been a bit quiet here on the blog – I acknowledge that. See, the thing is – I’ve been a bit busy… busy helping people, one person at a time. Helping people in a way that actually delivers results, and fuels the fire within them to keep pushing and keep stretching themselves in the pursuit of excellence.
Strangely – for someone who spends so much time looking at numbers in one way, shape or form – I don’t keep a lot of records to quantify my achievements. But I did come across one number I wanted to share with you.
That’s how many people have taken my FREE, on-demand course on the principles of using Tableau Desktop for the purposes of business analysis. And that number doesn’t include the other 3,695 people who have also taken my FREE, on demand course on administering Tableau Server for the purposes of business improvement.
You see, Tableau – to me – is the secret ingredient in a tantalizing recipe for business improvement. Tableau is not a game, it is not an artist’s palate. It’s a means to an end. And whilst this ‘means’ is indeed phenomenal and magical and awe-inspiring and limitless, it is still only a means to an end.
I’m working on some pretty cool stuff at the moment – a new book, new courses, new projects – all aimed at helping my next 9,644 students, readers and fans get to a better end. In the coming weeks, I’ll also be launching a live case study which will highlight the good, the bad and the ugly of this “means to an end” in an active client engagement. I’m extremely grateful that this client has given permission for me to show you the inner workings of this project – because they, like me, want to achieve a pretty spectacular ‘end’ – and we both hope that by sharing our journey there that we can offer some guidance to like-minded travellers as they trek towards their ‘end’.
